Cognitive behavior therapy (CBT)

Cognitive behavior (CBT) therapy is based on scientific research. The effectiveness is proven empirically.

CBT comprehends the human being as an entity: how the client perceives, acts, thinks and feels.

Impairments and symptoms may occur on all four levels.

The therapy focuses on restoring these dysfunctions and reestablishing healthier perceptions and behaviors as well as a realistic thinking pattern, thus resulting in more positive emotions.

Method of Treatment

When you have made the decision to see a therapist, the therapist will then make a thorough assessment. An explanatory model is initially created with the aid of a detailed biographical history in order to understand how the difficulties on the behavioral, cognitive, mental and emotional level could develop.

For this, the maximum of five introductory sessions are intended, in which the clients can check for themselves whether there is a matching "chemistry" between him and the therapist. Each client is entitled through the German public and private health insurance to have a look at different therapists during the introductory phase to find the most suitable person.

Once the therapist and the client agree to continue the therapy process then there will be an application for a short-term therapy. 25 sessions will then be approved and paid for by your health insurance. A later hour extension of up to a maximum of 80 sessions of therapy is possible.

As part of the subsequent therapy, you will learn in small steps how you can change your familiar longstanding perception with the provided therapeutic techniques. You will also acquire skills to  change your usual behavioral patterns and modulate the deeply ingrained thinking so that subsequently your emotions will improve.

You will learn to gradually experience yourself more independently and self-reliant, thus increasing your quality of life permanently. CBT is implemented in a small-step process that requires courage to try new things, willingness to act differently, capability to deal with setbacks and frustrations. CBT will eventually give you the feeling of having control over your symptoms and increase your general life satisfaction.
